Quick biography
Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in West Reading, Pennsylvania. She moved to Nashville at 14 to pursue country music and released her self-titled debut album in 2006.
Swift crossed over to pop with the album 1989 in 2014 and became one of the best-selling music artists of all time. After a dispute over her early master recordings, she began re-recording her first six albums as “Taylor’s Version”. Her Eras Tour (2023–24) became the highest-grossing concert tour in history, and she has won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year a record four times.
In 2019 the sale of her former label’s catalogue — including her master recordings — to Scooter Braun sparked a public dispute that led Swift to re-record her early albums, a move widely seen as a landmark stand for artists’ rights. She surprised fans with the folk-oriented albums Folklore and Evermore in 2020, and in 2023 Time magazine named her Person of the Year.
