Quick biography
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — Bad Bunny — was born on March 10, 1994, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. He sang in his church choir until age 13, studied audiovisual communication at university, and bagged groceries at a supermarket while uploading songs to SoundCloud. His 2016 track “Diles” caught a producer’s ear and launched him.
He became the face of Latin trap and then something bigger: the first artist to take Spanish-language music to the very top of the global mainstream. El Último Tour del Mundo (2020) was the first all-Spanish album to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200; Un Verano Sin Ti (2022) was Spotify’s biggest streaming year ever for any artist; and Debí Tirar Más Fotos made history as the first Spanish-language Album of the Year Grammy winner — all without ever recording in English.
