Quick biography
Shedeur Deion Sanders was born on February 7, 2002, in Tyler, Texas, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and Pilar Sanders. He grew up around the game, attending Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, where he became one of the most sought-after high-school quarterbacks in the country before choosing Jackson State, the historically Black university where his father had just become head coach.
At Jackson State he was an instant star, winning the Jerry Rice Award as the best freshman in the FCS in 2021 and SWAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2022, while leading the Tigers to back-to-back conference titles. When his father moved to Colorado in 2023, Sanders followed, throwing for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns in his first FBS season. In 2024 he was even better, winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year as Colorado went 9–4.
