Nearly all of Sunday’s fresh crypto capital went into Bitcoin — steady accumulation, not a breakout bid — while the price defended the $80K zone.

Bitcoin Absorbs $58 Million of Fresh Inflows as Price Holds Above $81,700

Almost every fresh dollar that entered crypto on Sunday morning went to a single destination: Bitcoin. Flow tracking compiled by CryptoMeter recorded $58.38 million of inflows into BTC in the five hours to 05:30 UTC on October 18 — dwarfing every other asset, with nothing else crossing $5 million. Bitcoin traded at $81,725 at the time, up 0.2% on the day.

The mix is telling. Fiat money — $13.15 million in US dollars plus smaller sums in Brazilian reais and Korean won — entered alongside stablecoins already parked on the sidelines: $56.44 million of USDT and $3.65 million of USDC were put to work. Ethereum was a distant second at $4.76 million, followed by wrapped Bitcoin at $3.44 million. Flat price action against a dominant inflow print is the combination traders watch for: buying that hasn’t needed to chase yet.

There are reasons for caution too. A Coinbase order-book snapshot showed $25.28 million in sell orders against $16.65 million in buys — an $8.63 million sell-side lead — and perpetual futures funding rates stayed neutral between 0.005% and 0.01%, signaling mixed sentiment. Bitcoin also remains below its 20-day exponential moving average near $82,905.

The technical map is clear: $80,340 is the support that must hold, $82,905 is the resistance to reclaim, and the 24-hour range of $80,715–$81,972 shows a market coiling rather than breaking.

The bigger picture: with the Fed meeting on October 27–28 and ETF flows pausing, crypto is in wait-and-see mode — but Sunday’s accumulation suggests buyers are positioning, not fleeing.
