Age Calculator

How old am I, exactly? This free age calculator answers that question down to the day. Enter your date of birth and instantly see your exact chronological age in years, months and days — computed with real calendar math that handles leap years and months of different lengths.

Beyond the headline number, the tool totals your time on Earth in days, weeks, months and hours. It also reveals the weekday you were born on, converts your age to the traditional Korean age system, counts down to your next birthday, and can measure your age on any past or future date — or the difference between any two dates.

The formula: how exact age is calculated

Every reliable age calculator uses the same calendar arithmetic, often called the borrow method. It subtracts the birth day, birth month and birth year from the reference date separately — borrowing days from the previous month and months from the year whenever a subtraction would go negative. Because months have different lengths, the borrowed amount always comes from the real calendar, which is why leap years are handled automatically and no lookup tables are needed.

Here is a worked example. Take a date of birth of 15 March 1990 and a reference date of 3 October 2026. Days first: 3 is smaller than 15, so borrow September’s 30 days — 3 + 30 = 33, minus 15 = 18 days, and the month drops back to September. Months: 9 − 3 = 6 months. Years: 2026 − 1990 = 36 years. The exact age is 36 years, 6 months and 18 days. You can verify it by adding back: 15 March 1990 plus 36 years plus 6 months plus 18 days lands exactly on 3 October 2026.

Chronological age calculator

When people search for a chronological age calculator, they mean precisely what this tool computes: the exact time elapsed since birth, expressed in years, months and days. Chronological age is the number on your identity documents — the one governments, schools and insurers use for eligibility, cut-offs and official records.

It helps to distinguish it from biological age, which describes how old a body seems based on health and lifestyle. Biological age is a research concept, not something any date calculator can measure. This page sticks to what dates can prove: pure calendar time, computed to the day.

Korean age calculator

If you have ever wondered why someone from South Korea might say they are a year or two older than you expected, the answer is the traditional Korean age system. Under it, a newborn starts at one year old, and everyone gains a year together on New Year’s Day rather than on individual birthdays.

The traditional Korean age is simple to compute: current year minus birth year, plus one. Someone born in 1990 has a traditional Korean age of 2026 − 1990 + 1 = 37 during 2026. This calculator shows that figure alongside your international age, clearly labelled, so you can compare both systems at a glance.

One note for accuracy: South Korea adopted the international age system for official and legal purposes in 2023, so the traditional count is now mostly social and cultural. We show it because people keep asking about it — not because any official form will.

Age difference calculator: days between dates

The "Age difference" mode is really a days-between-dates calculator: give it any two dates and it returns the exact gap in years, months and days, plus the total day count. Use it to settle "who is older, and by how much", to measure project timelines, or to count the days to a wedding, graduation or retirement.

Worked example: from 1 January 2000 to 3 October 2026 is 26 years, 9 months and 2 days. Add it back to check — 1 January 2000 plus 26 years is 1 January 2026, plus 9 months is 1 October 2026, plus 2 days is 3 October 2026.

Examples: birth-year questions, answered

A huge share of age searches are birth-year questions, and the pattern is always the same: subtract the birth year from the current year, then adjust for whether the birthday has happened yet this year. Born in 1990? In 2026 you turn — or have turned — 36. Born in 2000? You turn — or have turned — 26. The calculator above removes the guesswork by using your full date of birth.

“How many days old am I?” is answered by the tool’s total-days figure: the raw count of midnights between your birth date and today. And “what day was I born on?” is answered by the weekday readout, computed from the real calendar.

When exact age actually matters

Most days, "about thirty-four" is plenty. But school admission cut-offs, voting eligibility, driving licences, retirement dates and insurance age bands all run on completed years to the day. That is when an exact, verifiable age stops being trivia and starts being paperwork — and when a calculator you can check by hand earns its keep.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old am I today?

Enter your date of birth in the calculator above and it shows your exact chronological age as of today — in years, months and days — plus how many days you have lived in total.

How do I calculate age from my date of birth?

Use the borrow method: subtract the birth day from the current day (borrowing the previous month’s days if needed), subtract the birth month from the current month (borrowing 12 months if needed), then subtract the years. For example, born 15 March 1990 on 3 October 2026 gives 36 years, 6 months and 18 days.

What is chronological age?

Chronological age is simply the exact amount of time that has passed since you were born — the number this tool shows. It is different from biological age, which describes how old a body seems based on health and lifestyle and cannot be computed from dates alone.

How many days have I lived?

The calculator’s "days lived" total counts every midnight between your date of birth and the reference date. It is the most precise single-number measure of your age — unaffected by month lengths or leap-year quirks.

What day of the week was I born on?

The tool computes it from the real calendar as soon as you enter your date of birth — no lookup tables, just date math. It appears next to your exact age in the results.

What is Korean age and how is it calculated?

Traditional Korean age starts newborns at one year old and adds a year for everyone on New Year’s Day. The formula is: current year − birth year + 1. The calculator shows it clearly labelled next to your international age.

How do I find the age difference between two dates?

Switch to the "Age difference" mode and enter both dates. The tool returns the exact gap in years, months and days plus the total number of days between them.

Is this age calculator free and private?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up. Every calculation happens in your browser on your own device; your date of birth is never sent to any server.
